Quality Care You Can Count On
All meaningful lives involve pain, there is no escaping it. The good news is that even if we cannot avoid pain, we can learn to rise above it and still create a life worth living. Nietzche said that “he who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.” Life will never be unbearable due to circumstances, but only from a lack of purpose. It is unhelpful to think that we are the only ones suffering, as this will just deepen the pain. Instead, we can learn to embrace suffering as a part of life and look to find greater meaning through adversity.
Many of the challenges we encounter can be overcome using the tools already available to us, but at times it might be necessary to obtain professional counseling. Some are afraid of going to therapy because they feel it makes them weak or crazy, but in reality it shows humility and strength. My job is to help you look at your situation a little differently (and maybe more objectively), and to develop a committed action plan to make the positive changes you have been wanting to.
Like the Serenity Prayer says, we need to accept the things we cannot change, and have courage to change what we can. Often the thing that needs changing the most is ourselves. I want to help you learn how to control your mind rather than letting your mind control you. Don’t wait until it is too late. Harold Hill wisely stated that if “you pile up enough tomorrows, you’ll find you’ve collected a lot of empty yesterdays.”
Brené Brown
“We cannot selectively numb emotions, when we numb the painful emotions, we also numb the positive emotions.”
